With exhaust emissions as low as 96g/km and fuel consumption of just 4.1l/100kms, the new Lexus CT 200h is claiming environmental leadership in the luxury hatchback segment.
With its unveiling at the Paris Motor Show, the CT 200h takes Lexus into a market dominated by European stars like the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series. But Lexus being Lexus, the newcomer brings an armada of high tech and luxury features designed to take the front running.
While the CT 200h is the first Lexus small hatchback, the company says there will be no compromise in the hallmark Lexus quality, comfort and luxury standards.
And – clearly taking aim at BMW and Audi – Lexus says the CT 200h will combine outstanding environmental credentials with the high standard on-road dynamics demanded by sporty drivers. In fact the Lexus CT 200h will be equipped with the world’s first volume production version of lateral performance dampers, a new-design double wishbone rear suspension and a high rigidity bodyshell – all specifically developed for high performance motoring.
According to Lexus, the CT 200h will be powered by the latest generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system and its new diesel powerplant has been engineered to emit near zero levels of NOx and particulates from its exhaust.
With the Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series both staring at sub-$40,000, prices for the new Lexus CT 200h is eagerly awaited
