It’s official, Ford’s all-new Mustang coupe and convertible will arrive in Australia next year powered by either a 5.0-litre V8 engine or a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Ford says more than 15,000 prospective customers already expressing interest in the all-new Mustang.
But it’s the stats which have been most eagerly anticipated so we can tell you the 5.0-litre Ti-CVT V8 will deliver 303kW at 6250rpm and peak torque of 525Nm at 4250rpm while the 2.3-litre GTDi EcoBoost will be good for 233kW at 5600rpm and peak torque of 432Nm at 3000rpm.
Both will drive the rear wheels via either a six-speed Getrag manual transmission or a six-speed SelectShift automatic with optional steering wheel paddle-shifters and a limited slip differential.
The V8 models score 19x9 inch front wheels and 19 x 9.5 inch rears while the EcoBoost models run 19x9 inch all-round.
And V8 models also see bigger Brembo brakes.
But apart from those changes both Mustang versions are pretty much identical – right down to the premium leather heated and cooled seats with electronic adjustment, the eight-inch colour touch screen and nine-speaker audio system.
