The much-speculated first compact Lexus – the five-door hybrid CT200h – finally appeared in production form at the Geneva Motor Show.
The hybrid powertrain sees the electric motor combined with a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine.
With a focus on sporty driving performance, the CT200h features driver-selectable driving modes ‘Sport’ and ‘Eco’.
‘Sport’ offers faster acceleration and more direct response and sees the instrument illumination turn red while ‘Eco’ has the instruments illuminated in a blue hue.
Clearly the CT200h has been designed to ‘mainstream’ hybrid technology into a more sporty dynamic – its low ride height, sporty wheels and low profile tyres stamp this Lexus and a car for drivers (with excellent ‘green’ credentials as well).
