Defending Bathurst champion Chaz Mostert has had a massive crash in qualifying at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.
Mostert was driving his first lap in his Pepsi Max Crew Falcon when he clipped at wall at turn 16, he then launched in to 17 before grinding the wall like a pro skater in to turn 18.
Mostert was assisted from his car by paramedics and has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg and wrist. Five track officials have also received injuries, four escaped with minor injuries whilst a fifth has been taken to hospital.
The crash meant that track officials had no choice but to close the track for the rest of the day.
