Already on the most technologically advanced vehicles on the planet, BMW's X5 gains extra tech in the form of an 'Innovations' package.

This includes many of the features ordered as options by X5 customers and replaces the X5 'Executive' model.

Included in the pack is 'Top View' - two cameras mounted in the exterior mirrors. Combined with the rear view camera and Park Distance Control (PDC) sensors, Top View is displayed in the central Control Display and allows X5 owners to maneuver with confidence - a clear safety initiative in car parks and home driveways.

Other inclusions in the 'Innovations' pack are: automatic tailgate operation, folding external mirrors, electric adjustment for the front seats and steering column, professional Navigation with an 8.8-inch colour monitor, voice control, Bi-Xenon headlights with high beam assist and a USB audio interface.

Ordered separately, these items would total more than $16,000, but when ordered as a pack with the X5 xDrive30i or X5xDrive30d, the price is $11,200 or $9,500 with the Sport or M Sport packages.

Other packs can be ordered for X5 xDrive35d or X5 xDrive48i.

At the same time, BMW has upgraded the Professional Navigation System for the X5 and X6 with a new iDrive Controller and a new menu structure. Navigation information is now stored in the system itself so a navigation DVD is not required.
