BMW’S X5 HITS THE 1 MILLION MARK

Coinciding with the Australian introduction of a mid-life update, BMW’s superb X5 SUV has achieved a global milestone with the one millionth model rolling off the production line in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Locally, the mid-life changes saw the introduction of three new nameplates – X5 xDrive35i, X5 xDrive40d and X5 xDrive50i. BMW Australia says the X5 retains its status as our best-selling luxury SUV – number one in that segment for the last seven years.

Since it first appeared in 1999, the BMW X5 has captured the imagination of SUV buyers throughout the world and garnered numerous international and local awards.

The Spartanburg plant in rural South Carolina has earned the kudos of BMW with the X5 now exported from North America for sale in 120 countries. As well as the BMW X5, the BMW X6 is also a product of North America and production will start there soon for the BMW X3.
