Finally an end to the ‘spy photos’ – BMW has released the all-new 2 Series Coupe in Europe.
The new model goes on-sale in March next year and follows BMW’s tradition in being rear-wheel-drive and topped by an ‘M’ model – the M235i Coupe.
Some 11cms longer than the BMW 1 Series (and also longer in the wheelbase and wider), the all-new 2 Series Coupe, like the just launched 4 Series, is actually widest at the rear wheels. Combine that wide track look with BMW’s latest dynamic styling and you have another sporty coupe – albeit in a smaller package.
The BMW 2 Series also affords greater rear seat legroom and headroom than the 1 Series and the boot is larger at 390-litres.
Under the bonnet, all TwinPower turbo engine lineup in the 2 Series debuts a 135kW version of the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine (220i). The other petrol engine is the 240kW, 3.0-litre six-cylinder in the M235i.
On the diesel front, the BMW 2 Series will offer the 218d (105kW), 220d (135kW), and 225d (160kW).
And BMW being BMW the all-new 2 Series Coupe arrives with the expected armada of technology and driver aids.
The M235i sounds like our kind of car!
