BMW’s new 7 Series lineup has been launched in Europe ahead of Australian sales later this year.
The new lineup boasts freshened looks inside and out and a revised powertrain lineup including the world’s most powerful six-cylinder turbo-diesel and the second generation ActiveHybrid 7.
While the Australian model lineup has not been announced, the European range kicks-off with the 730i the there is the 740i (a new petrol engine), revised V8 for the 750i and the range is again topped by the 12-cylinder 760i.
Headlining the diesel range is the all-new BMW 750d xDrive, its TwinPower Turbo six cylinder diesel the world’s most powerful in-line six. Changes for 730d and 740d deliver more power and reduced fuel consumption.
And BMW says the second generation ActiveHybrid7 is even cleaner thanks to a new six-cylinder engine.
Most obvious is the new front-end which in a major change sees the hallmark BMW kidney grille shrink from 12 slats to nine. There are also new LED headlights with BMW’s usual ‘corona’ rings accentuated by an accent strip for a distinctive light show and the side indicator lights shift to the rear-view mirrors.
Inside are new leather seats (two individual rear seats are on the options list), a 1200-watt, 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system and 9.2-inch flat-screen rear entertainment system.
Extended black panel technology highlights the dashboard of the new BMW 7 Series with the format of the 10.25-inch screen individually programmable by the driver and offering a choice of colours for the 3D graphic displays.
