Audi has announced its scintillating limited edition R8 LMX is available in limited numbers for local buyers.
Performance is astonishing – 419kW/540Nm worth of 5.2-litre V10 sending the Audi R8 LMX from zero to 100km/h in the true supercar time of just 3.4 seconds.
Technology is no less impressive and ground-breaking including a world first for production cars - laser high-beam headlights.
The laser spot, active at speeds greater than 60km/h supplements the Audi R8 LMX’s LED high beam and an intelligent camera-based sensor system detects other road users and actively adjusts the light pattern to exclude them.
In fact the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro racing at Le Mans in June is equipped with the same combination of LED and laser high beams.
The Audi R8 LMX is painted in a unique ‘Ara Blue’ crystal effect and runs a large, fixed rear wing, front spiler, side flics, rear diffuser and exterior mirror housings in matt finish carbon fibre. Single frame grille and air intakes are titanium grey and wheels are 19-inch alloys with 235/35 R19 tyres.
Inside is fine Nappa leather, Alcantara and Sepang Blue contrast stitching.
Only 99 of the Audi R8 LMX will be produced for the global market and Audi Australia will announce local details later.
