Q-branch has been hard at work.
Storied British sports car marque Aston Martin has pulled the wraps off of not one, but two limited-run commemorative editions of its DB11, each with a special story to play. One to mark Aston’s partnership with the Henley Royal Regatta, and the other to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Classic Driver, the leading international market & magazine for classic & collector cars.
First up is the DB11 Volante Henley Royal Regatta, the second instalment of the Royal Regatta editions after a commemorative DB11 Coupé was released last year. A striking colour called White Stone sets the tone for the DB11 Volante, which features things like a black convertible hood, smoked taillights, anodised brake callipers hiding behind gloss-black diamond-turned wheels, carbon fibre details, and a dark finish for the exhaust pipes and the bonnet meshes. Befitting a one-off is its eye-watering pricetag, of £199,995.
The cabin hasn’t been left unfettled, not at all. Aston’s Q division had their way inside too, fitting Red Oxide Caithness leather upholstery, as well as a smattering of carbon fibre about the place. Intrestingly, there are hand-painted pale blue accents and stainless-steel crossed-oar motifs through the cabin too, denoting the Royal Regatta connection.
Next up is the DB11 Classic Driver Edition, commissioned by the website to mark 20-years since its inception. For the uninitiated, Classic Driver is the world’s first website aimed specifically at classic and rarefied car enthusiasts and collectors, and the 20 special V8 DB11 Coupés and Volantes have been designed in close collaboration with CD lead designer Benjamin Knapp Voith play their role beautifully.
The hue used to finish the cars is a unique Classic Driver grey, which features a “twist of green once exposed to sunlight.” The colour is then set off further by a Q by Aston Martin carbon-fibre body pack, finished in a dazzling Eifel Green lacquer.
The cabin too features unique touches to signify its importance as a commemorative edition. The cabin has been trimmed in Eifel Green Caithness leather, with the Classic Driver logo embroidered into the headrests in a contrasting Parliament Green. All cars will get the Classic Driver logo on the side sills and badging, but the CD Volante will gain a Westminster Green textile roof.
“Having worked closely with Aston Martin, and having kept a special place in my heart for the brand for almost three decades, I am proud to celebrate Classic Driver’s anniversary with this limited-edition DB11. For me, seeing both brands unite for this bespoke car truly feels like the perfect match.” — Alexander Knapp Voith, Founder, Classic Driver
The Aston Martin DB11 V8 Classic Driver editions will be available to order from £199,275 in the UK, €252,396 in Europe, and US$274,010 in the States.
