470kW means it gets to laud it over everyone else.

Coinciding with the launch of their new AMR performance centre at the Nurburgring, British luxury sports car marque Aston Martin pulled the wraps off a new, hotter variant of its beautiful DB11 grand-tourer. Meet the DB11 AMR.

AMR, for the uninitiated, stands for Aston Martin Racing. The AMR division is responsible for customer-raced vehicles as well as the factory’s own motorsports pursuits, and they also put out a range of hardcore accessories for customers looking to dial-up their road-driven Astons. But the DB11 AMR is a different beast altogether, geared to provide a “more vivid driving experience,” but without compromising the “effortless continent-crushing GT performance.”

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the same 5.2-litre V12 biturbo mill from the standard DB11 V12, but it’s been tinkered with to produce 470kW and 700Nm (up 23kW). This has been mated to a louder and angrier (Aston says it’s “more vocal”) exhaust system and a recalibrated eight-speed automatic transmission. All in all, the top speed is up by 12km/h, and the century sprint is completed in 0.2-seconds less time (at just 3.7-seconds).

Further unique touches to the DB11 AMR include things like carbon-fibre everything on the outside, a darker hue to most of the exterior trim, and the extensive use of leather and Alcantara on the inside.

Being a special edition, the DB11 AMR will be made available in a trip of ‘Designer Specifications,’ each with their own unique colour signature and cabin trim finishes (we think), as well as a DB11 AMR Signature. Just 100 Signature models will be made available worldwide, distinguishable by their Stirling Green and lime livery.

The carbon fibre detailing on the exterior is turned up further, while the cabin gets a ‘Dark Knight’ and lime colour scheme (someone’s a Batman fan). Further interior detailing includes the use of dark chrome with a satin finish for most of the trim, as well as details in satin carbon fibre.

Prices start at £174,995 ($314k thereabouts) for the DB11 AMR, topping off at £201,995 ($363k give-or-take) for the AMR Signature Edition. There’s a variety of options to further customise your DB11 AMR, including carbon fibre exhaust tips, spoiler, steering wheel, paddle-shifters, and even a carbon-fibre bonnet. You can also option on different wheels, alternative colours for the exterior, alternative trims for the interior, and even a tailor-made, matching luggage set.
