There’s major updates for Falcon, Ranger and Territory, changes for the Kuga and new models for EcoSport SUV but in many ways Ford’s biggest new model in 2014 will be the all-new Transit light commercial van.
Set for debut in January, the all-new Transit van is a global vehicle for Ford – the latest version of a nameplate dating back to 1965 and which has racked-up more than seven-million sales.
The all-new Transit arriving in Australia in January will feature Ford’s 92kW/350Nm 2.2-litreturbo-diesel engine driving through either the front or rear wheels (depending on the model).
Both long and short-wheelbase versions will be available and specifications include a stowable roof rack, Ford SYNC connectivity and rear camera.
As you would expect from an iconic van like the Ford Transit, user-friendliness for van operators hits the top note – a sealed load floor, rear compartment trim board, partial headliner and eight cargo tied-downs just for starters.
Also coming from Ford in 2014:

• For the excellent German-designed Ford Kuga SUV, look for Trend model to add a new options pack which includes the clever ‘soccer-kick’ remote tailgate
• Ford EcoSport compact SUV Ambiente and Trend models arrive in February
• For the Territory and Falcon, expect major updates in 2014 – the latter to include the return of the XR8 model, powered by Ford’s ‘Miami’ V8
