Mercedes-Benz’ first foray into the exploding compact SUV segment – the GLA-Class – will be priced from $47,900 when it goes on-sale locally next month.
That’s bad news for segment rivals as the Mercedes-Benz GLA is sure to attract plenty of attention from buyers in this league (both family and fleets) with its knockout styling, comprehensive specifications, available economical turbo-diesel with 4.6l/100kms fuel economy and…well, because it’s a Mercedes-Benz.
The mid-grade Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4MATIC debuts the latest generation 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system and runs 155kW/350Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Range-topping GLA 45 AMG – like anything with an AMG badge, simply lip-smackingly excellent – employs the renown 265kW/450Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine (the world’s most powerful series production four-cylinder).
Diesel power for the GLA 200 CDI comes from the 100kW/300Nm 2.2-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel.
Standard across the range are Becker Map Pilot satellite navigation, electronic tailgate, reversing camera, Active Parking Assist and dual-zone climate control.
The lineup at launch looks like this:
GLA 200 CDI $47,900
GLA 250 4MATIC $57,900
GLA 45 AMG $79,900
