The all-new Mazda3 gets off to a fast start next year as the vehicle for the annual F1 Grand Prix celebrity race around Melbourne’s Albert Park circuit on 13-16 March.
Mazda is kitting-out 20 examples of the all-new hatchback model (138kW/250Nm 2.5-litre) with racing equipment to follow-up last year’s Mazda6 celebrity race.
Tutored by V8 Supercar racer Mark Skaife, last year’s celebrity racers lost some discipline in Sunday’s race with major damage to most of the Mazda6 field.
Mazda will be hoping for less panel beating for the all-new Mazda3 field as the GP celebrity race launches the good-looking and high-tech newcomer ahead of local sales.
TV presenter and Mazda ambassador Lauren Phillips is the first driver named and the rest of the field will be announced shortly.
