Kia’s all-new Soul – the second generation of Kia’s funky, boxy hatchback – is slated for a European unveiling in a couple of weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Based on the platform of the platform of the European Kia cee’d, we hear the all-new Soul has ‘grown-up’ a tad compared to the ‘wild child’ original – boasting a fresh appearance whilst retaining the hallmark upright stance and squared shoulders.
As well as the new look, switching to the cee’d platform gives the all-new Kia Soul and stiffer chassis for better ride/handling and slightly larger dimensions which means more space – noticeable in leg, shoulder and head-room we’re told as well as 4.0-per-cent more cargo capacity (now up to 354-litres).
Power will still come from Kia’s 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines - but we’re told to expect improved fuel efficiency.
And one of the cars to feature in Kia’s Frankfurt display features a ‘sports pack’ with black-painted side skirts, wheel arches and roof as well as ‘piano black’ bumpers.
European sales for the Kia Soul are scheduled for early next year
