Porsche’s all-new second-generation four-door sports saloon, the Panamera, is due for an unveil quite soon and the German marque is again performing the slow drip to build anticipation for it.
Following last week’s video teaser that showed some of the car’s rear end shape and tail lamps, this week’s previews the final car’s silhouette in the form of a sketch, revealing a much sleeker and lower side profile compared to the outgoing model.
If this sketch is more accurate than stylistic, perhaps Porsche has traded rear headroom for a more sloping fastback roof – a trade off we most definitely approve of. It is unlikely for them set up expectations for a considerably sleeker car but not deliver that in the final version.
Porsche values their brand too much to be cavalier in such matters, and we can be fairly certain that this sketch is an accurate-enough representation of the next Panamera.
The shape itself, particularly the latter half, has classic Porsche-esque proportions, evoking their current 991.2 generation 911 while styling cues up front are said to borrow from their most recent effort, the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman.
The car will sit on a new platform dubbed MSB and as previously reported, Porsche will also be debuting a new line of lower displacement but more powerful and efficient V8 engines with the next Panamera, paired to a evolution of their PDK double-clutch transmission.
