Mercedes-Benz Australia has confirmed the beautifully styled CLA-Class sedan will be launched locally in October with prices starting from $49,900.
While full details won’t be revealed until launch, ‘Benz has made an early claim for its new compact sedan to be the world’s most aerodynamic production four-door – a boon for optimized fuel consumption.
But before you get carried away feeling warm and fuzzy, this is Germany’s Mercedes-Benz so naturally the CLA-Class lineup includes a ripper high-performance, high-tech model from those geniuses at AMG – it’s called the CLA 45 AMG.
Powered by a 265kW/450Nm version of the turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine, driving all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4MATIC system, the CLA 45 AMG is loaded with the expected array of superb AMG goodies and covers the standing 100km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
But if Car Showroom’s experience in the A-Class hatchback is a guide, the CLA 250 Sport might be the best value CLA-Class. A 155kw/355Nm version of the turbocharged 2.0-litre, 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG sports suspension, AMG styling, sports steering wheel and sports pedals all add-up to an alluring German compact we’d fancy in our garage.
Entry to the CLA-Class range is the CLA 200 which scores a 115kW/250Nm turbocharged 1.6-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine which provides impressive combined cycle fuel consumption of just 5.7l/100kms.
Of course all Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class models boast massive standard kit including Becker Map Pilot satellite navigation and a reversing camera.
CLA 250 adds heated leather seats (electronic adjustment for the fronts) while the stunning CLA 45 AMG goes the whole enchilada with COMAND navigation and Harmon Kardon audio.
The full range is:
CLA 200 $49,900
CLA 250 Sport $63,400
CLA 45 AMG $86,900
