Buyers of the F-150 have certain priorities in mind, and with that it’s fairly easy to predict what they’d want. When the lesser variants of the big Ford pick-up received a 3.5-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 engine option, some grumbles were audible because it wasn’t a pokey as the near-identical unit found in the hotted-up Raptor.

The Blue Oval has listened to these criticisms and decided to not short change the non-Raptor owners with a subpar tune of the same engine, electing to serve them the full ‘high output’ version with 335kW and 690Nm. But unlike the 2019 Ranger which will be getting the Ranger Raptor’s bi-turbo EcoBlue diesel, Ford is still tiering the power to select variants.

Starting from the new model year, the up-tuned 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 will also be shared with the F-150 Limited, a more expensive and luxury-focused representation of the range, stocked with all the tech features, premium materials, and convenience equipment available to the 13th-generation F-150. Crucially, though, they’re billing it as the most powerful light-duty truck in America.

The exterior of the F-150 Limited is meant to exude an air of elegance in spite of its intimidating bulk. Ford has included a new dual exhaust system for a sportier sound signature and has also integrated the tips into the new rear bumper. Elsewhere, there are polished 22-inch wheels, a unique satin-finished grille and tailgate appliqué, powered tailgate release, and a powered twin-panel moonroof.

Inside, the F-150 Limited sports a leather lined instrument and door panel(s) while Miko suede is used for the headliner and Camel Back two-tone leather are used for the multicontour front seats that feature active lumbar support and even a massaging feature.

As standard the Limited receives a 360-degree camera system that helps with Dynamic Hitch Assist and Pro Trailer Backup Assist as well as more common driver aid functions such as Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go, Pre-Collision Assist with AEB, Lane Keep Assist, and Park Assist.

Naturally, it comes with Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system, projected through a 8-inch touchscreen that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. There’s also an integrated 4G modem for in-vehicle Wi-Fi access, provided you’ve the service enabled, and a premium Bang & Olufsen speaker system.
