Any excuse to take the top off.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet is expected to make its global debut soon, with the revered luxury carmaker choosing the Frankfurt motor show as the venue to do so. Ahead of the showing, the company has released a short teaser video to help build hype around the model, executed in typical Mercedes-Benz fashion: Dark background, soothing music, and focused lighting aimed to highlight notable features.
The notable feature in this case is the folding canvas soft-top, which will sit above a facelifted model. Also spotted in the film are refreshed headlights and taillights, which alludes to the possibility of some bespoke design features dotted around the place.
The S-Class cabriolet will likely see motivation from the same range of engines offered in the S-Class coupé and saloon, namely the S500’s 3.0-litre straight six and its mild-hybrid setup. ‘Intelligent Drive’ advanced driver assistance systems will probably also find their way on board, assuming Mercedes doesn’t surprise the world by announcing even more tech for what will be its flagship cabriolet.
At its debut, the S-Class Cabriolet will be joined on stage by the S-Class Coupé, along with the Mercedes-AMG Project One, a new EQ compact concept car, along with a GLC Fuel-Cell EQ. With the Motor Show opening its doors on the 16th, stay tuned to CarShowroom as we bring you updates as they come.
