A day before the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLS is due to be fully unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show, some official pictures of the car has emerged online through some social media channels in its full matte grey glory. These pictures, seen here, and procured in relatively high detail by Motoring.
The sleek four-door coupe certainly does match the 2005 original for overall shape, but we’re also seeing plenty of borrowed cues from the smaller CLA as well as the current C-Class Coupe and E-Class Coupe, especially where the front and rear fascias.
Of course, we know that the CLS is based on the W213 E-Class, and it does indeed occupy a similar footprint. It’s nose, however, feature slimmer headlights and a more pronounced grille that sports a large example of the brand’s three-pointed star logo.
While the exact model designation has bene removed from this particular example, we can guess that this one is some kind of special launch edition and possibly one that has had some AMG influence lavished upon it.
Under the bonnet, it’s clearly advertised that there’s six cylinders powering the CLS. We can’t be sure whether this is Mercedes’ newer inline-6 that were seeing here or the carry-over V6. That said, this particular unit might likely sit higher in the model’s hierarchy, slotting underneath the full-blown AMG variant.
Inside, the turbine-style air conditioning vents (that will also be feature prominently across the dashboard with a total of 5 vents strewn across. The now-common two-piece digital displays flow together to handle the functions of the instrument cluster and media and infotainment system. The cabin here pairs a grey shade with a predominantly cream leather treatment on the trim pieces and seating upholstery.
We’re sure to have much more on the all-new Mercedes-Benz CLS once its fully unveiled at the LA Motor Show, though this leak might have stolen the car’s exterior design thunder a bit.
