The Gladiator rises again.

2018 Jeep Wrangler Ute Rendered, And It Looks Good

While we continue the long and arduous wait for the latest-generation Jeep Wrangler (which promises to bring with it the kind of updates and changes it needs to stay competitive in an ever-evolving market), we have little doubt that the most anticipated Wrangler of all on our shores is the Wrangler ute. Previewed in 2004 in the guise of the Jeep Gladiator concept, and then put off while the company went through a rough financial patch.

However, with an all-new (cough) Jeep Wrangler about to burst onto the scene, the Wrangler ute will finally become a reality, with several spy shots circulating on the web confirming the impending introduction. While it’s expected to retain the design cues of the SUV models, the renders we’ve got today courtesy of JLWrangler Forums came with some information about the ute.

A forum administrator said that they have it on good information that the Wrangler Ute will come with slightly different front fenders and an altered character line on the bed, but should otherwise remain the same. The Wrangler ute has been quite a challenge for Jeep, who have commented in the past about how difficult it would be to retain the off-road ability (namely the break-over angle) in a dual-cab body style, what with the increased wheelbase.

In any case, the Wrangler ute will likely be a massive success for the marque, and we’re looking forward to the eventual release of what might just be the most versatile ute of them all. You can check out other renders of the new Jeep Wrangler here.
