BMW fans report a German trademark registration for ‘BMW X2 Sport’ – and so the rumours have begun anew.
With sales growth for compact SUVs showing no signs of slowing, the German marque apparently has an X2 model in the pipeline which pundits says will be based on the next-generation X1 (due 2017).
Unlike the BMW X4 which www.carshowroom.com.au has been driving this week (review to come shortly), the X2 will likely follow the lead of the X1 range by being offered in two-wheel-drive – some say front-drive – and all-wheel-drive and could use BMW’s new three-cylinder engines.
As for the so-called ‘X2 Sport’…well the European media are talking a three-door version of the X2 and…erm…that may be stretching this shrunken SUV concept a bit too far.
