Star billing for Kia in Paris is the all-new, third-generation Sorento SUV.
Evolutionary styling changes see a smoother, swept-back profile and sculptured surfaces for a more sophisticated look.
A lower roofline and higher beltline give some muscle and the front-end sees modern wraparound headlights and a more upright version of the Kia ‘tiger-nose’ grille.
The all-new Kia Sorento is longer and wider than the current model but the roofline is actually 15mm lower at 1,685mm.
Inside is an all-new upscale look crafted by the Kia design team in Frankfurt, Germany. A wider instrument panel, leather on the premium models and more soft-touch materials are part of the story.
Interior colour choices are single-tone black or two-tone black and stone beige.
Available in five or seven-seat configurations, the extra dimensions (including an 80mm longer wheelbase) translate into exterior space and 17.5 per-cent more cargo capacity (now 605-litres with the third row seats folded flat).
While local specifications have not been finalised, European customers can spec an around-view monitor, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and Smart Power Tailgate in upscale versions.
A bodyshell 14 per-cent stiffer and extra sound deadening measures provide for a more refined drive.
Australian models will be offered with either a 3.3-litre petrol engine or the 2.2-litre turbo-diesel.
