Toyota Australia have launched the all-new third generation Toyota Kluger in Northern New South Wales today. The Toyota Kluger has recently slipped down the sale chart as rivals like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Territory have upped their games, Toyota hope the all-new Toyota Kluger will help Toyota get back in the game.
After Japan decided to cease building the Kluger in right hand drive the future of the Kluger in Australia looked grim. With 107,501 Kluger's sold in Australia the Kluger is an important SUV for Toyota. Working with head office in Japan Toyota Australia managed to source the new Kluger from Indiana in the USA.
Available in 7 seats only the new Toyota Kluger range retains the single 3.5 litre petrol engine, which produces 201kW and 337Nm of torque, matched to a 6 speed automatic. At the stage there is no plan to offer a diesel engine. Fuel consumption of the 2WD is reduced by 7.2% to 10.2-litres per 100kms and the AWD use 10.6-litres per 100kms and improvement of 8.6% over the outgoing model.
The Toyota Kluger is available in GX, GXL and Grande available in both 2WD and AWD. All models come equipped with 7 airbags, parking sensors and reversing camera.
