Three more engines and four new variants have boosted the latest BMW X5 range which was only launched locally last November. The big news is the four-cylinder turbo-diesel debuts a new rear-drive entry level model priced at $82,900.
The twin-turbocharged 25d drives through an eight-speed automatic transmission and provides 160kW/450Nm with combined-cycle fuel consumption for the rear-drive model impressive at just 5.8l/100kms.
And while power and torque for the turbocharged six-cylinder petrol xDrive 35i remain unchanged at 225kW/400Nm it’s faster at 6.5 seconds for zero to 100km/h and combined cycle fuel consumption has been slashed to 8.5l/100kms.
BMW X5 xDrive 40d sees higher output (230kW/630Nm) and fuel consumption down to 6.2l/100kms (that’s 1.3l/100kms less than the previous model).
