Lexus re-enters the prestige mid-size segment with the all-new ES range – including hybrid versions – priced from $63,000.
The ES 300 h is the first-ever ES hybrid and is powered by a 151kW 2.5-litre petrol-electric drivetrain. ES 350 employs the familiar 204kW 3.5-litre V6 combination.
Lexus being Lexus there’s no surprises with the specifications of the all-new ES – they’re comprehensive. Satellite navigation, eight-head parking sonar, blind spot monitor, eight-speaker audio with digital radio and 10 airbags just for starters.
The upscale Sport Luxury variants add features including 15-speaker Mark Levinson audio, tri-zone climate control air-conditioning and HID headlights.
More than 30 per-cent of Australian Lexus buyers choose environmentally-friendly hybrid technology so opening the batting for the all-new ES range with the hybrid model makes sense.
“The decision to lead ES Line pricing with hybrid is a result of higher consumer demand and the commercialization of hybrid technology,” explained Lexus Australia chief Sean Hanley.
