This should be the style leader of all the new models and concept cars to debut at the Geneva Motor Show – Jaguar’s magnificent XF Sportbrake.
Due for launch in Europe later this year the Sportbrake variant sits on the Jaguar XF platform and provides a massive 1,675-litres of cargo space.
Every panel behind the B-pillar is new and elegantly crafted but the C-pillar is finished in gloss black, just like the sedan. The Jaguar XF Sportbrake’s overall length is just 5mm longer than the XF sedan and weight is up by just 70kgs.
Some of that extra weight can be attributed to chassis modifications design to ensure the Jaguar Xf Sportbrake retains the high-standard driving dynamics which highlight the rest of the XF range.
Thanks to the new rear-end, passengers in the Sportback’s back seat enjoy 48mm more headroom than in the Jaguar XF sedan.
At the rear, there is an electronically-controlled tailgate and slim rear lights to deliver the expected dramatically elegant look. Inside are remote switches to automatically fold the rear seat when required.
With the rear seat in-place the Jaguar XF Sportbrake provides 500-litres of cargo capacity, including some useful smaller compartments. But fold the rear seat and the capacity grows to an SUV-like 1,675-litres.
Power will come from the familiar 2.2-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre six cylinder diesel engines, driving through the eight-speed automatic transmission.
Underneath, Jaguar has wrought massive changes to ensure the XF Sportbrake measures up as a load-lugger and towing vehicle – including fitment of self-levelling air suspension.
Prices and full details will be announced later.
