Kia’s funky, hip-to-be-square Soul hatchback has been updated with 2012 models debuting at the New York International Auto Show.
Big news is under the bonnet with Kia replacing the Soul’s current 91kW, 1.6-litre engine with its new direct injection version - which lifts output to 100kW – and an optional 119kW, 2.0-litre powerplant driving through six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
Visually, the new Kia Soul is distinguished by some new sheetmetal which is a tad softer and even includes some curves. There are also new front lights with LED DRLs (daytime running lights) and LED taillights.
While Australian specifications have not been revealed, North American Kia Souls gain new Inifinity audio systems, with leather seats and satellite navigation systems on the options list.
