Sports car fans, get your cheque books ready – production of both the Subaru’s BRZ and Toyota 86 sports cars has commenced.
Launch of the BRZ and its cousin the Toyota 86 will be two of the most anticipated new vehicle launches of 2012 and – underlining the ground-breaking stature of this product – both will be manufactured by Subaru at the company’s main plant in Gunma, Japan.
Start of the collaborative production was witnessed by Fuji Heavy Industries President, Yasuyuki Yoshinaga and Akio Toyoda, President of Toyota Motor Corporation.
“The Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 could not have been successfully developed without collaboration between FHI and TMC. We started the alliance for mutual growth in 2005. Now I am delighted to see that our alliance bore fruit,” explained Akio Toyoda.
Both the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 go on-sale locally in a few months.
