Mitsubishi has confirmed its all-new compact crossover will be called ASX and will be launched locally in August.
Slotting below the Outlander and offering both petrol and diesel engines, the ASX shapes as a competitor for vehicles like the Nissan Dualis and Hyundai ix35.
In Europe, the ASX is sold with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive.
The production version closely resembles the Concept-cX which broke cover at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Although the company has not released Australian details, if its policy of aggressive pricing continues, the ASX will be a value-for-money addition to an already crowded segment.
