Good news for the first customer taking delivery of their McLaren P1 at the company’s HQ in Woking, England – after extensive testing the British F1 team/supercar builder has confirmed the zero to 100km/h capability at a staggering 2.8 seconds.

Zero to 200km/h takes 6.8 seconds and zero to 300km/h takes just 16.5 seconds (that’s 5.5 seconds faster than the McLaren F1). Top speed is electronically limited to 350 km/h.

But just as impressive is the stopping power – 100km/h to zero in 30.2 metres (that’s about one-third the distance expected). That phenomenal braking performance comes after finalization of specifications from tyre supplier Pirelli and brake specialist Akebono who supplied the silicon carbine coated ceramic discs.

Of course at the heart of the McLaren P1 is the staggering 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid engine which delivers 903bhp in the old language (about 674kW). Thanks to that remarkable hybrid drivetrain, the McLaren P1 returns combined cycle fuel consumption of just 8.3l/100kms.

In fact the P1 can drive for about 11kms on zero-emission pure electric running.

Production of the McLaren P1 is now underway and fittingly the British-based buyer of the first example collected his car from the Woking facility last month – exactly 50 years since the company was created by the late New Zealand great Bruce McLaren.

A production run of 375 vehicles has been confirmed for the McLaren Production Centre.
