The 2012 World Car Awards will be announced on 5 April at the New York International Auto Show.
The international jury of 66 journalists has already determined the Top 10 finalists in the two categories and these will be slashed to the top three which will be announced at the Geneva International Motor Show on 6th March.
The 2012 World Car Of The Year will be selected from the following:

BMW 1 Series
BMW 3 Series
Chevrolet Volt- Opel/Vauxhall Ampera
Citroen DS5
Ford Focus
Land Rover Evoque
Porsche 911
Volkswagen Up!
While the 2012 World Performance Car Of The Year will be chosen from:

BMW 1 Series M Coupe

The problem of distance certainly presents difficulties for the Australian judges – cars such as the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, Ferrari FF, Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 and McLaren MP4-12C don’t come along every day.
