Williams, the British F1 team which gave Australian Alan Jones his World Championship has announced a partnership with Nissan to develop future high-performance products under the NISMO (Nisan’s competition arm) banner.
Williams Advanced Engineering brings its expertise in aerodynamics, simulation and material science to the table and we can expect the first of the enhanced NISMO models to debut from next year.
Nissan flagged a higher profile and expanded role for NISMO earlier this year when its competition/high performance arm of 30 years was relocated to a new global HQ in Yokohama, Japan and plans were announced for the GT-R NISMO to follow the 370Z NISMO and Juke NISMO. FYI: NISMO is a shortened form of ‘Nissan Motorsports’.
Sir Frank Williams said: “Williams Advanced Engineering has a history of developing world class, high performance products and this agreement is particularly exciting because of the ambition and potential of the NISMO brand. Both parties share a passion for racing and cutting edge technology and this collaboration will see us work closely together to develop cars that will be at the forefront of automotive technology.
Williams has previously worked with Renault and BMW.
