Volvo Car Australia heads into 2010 with major changes across the model range including two new turbo-diesel powerplants - an all-new twin-turbo D5 and 2.0-litre four cylinder.

There's extra good news for new Volvo buyers with significantly improved prices.

C30 gains a new 2.0D Powershift model with the new 100kW four-cylinder turbo-diesel driving through a refined dual-clutch six-speed automatic transmission. Performance is still sharp with zero to 100km/h in 9.5 seconds while fuel economy is down to 5.9l/100kms and emissions as low as 156g/km.

The S and LE models remain, powered by Volvo's 125kW 2.4-litre, five-cylinder engine driving through the Geartronic five-speed auto.

Volvo S40 and V50 models also gain 2.0D Powershift versions delivering enhanced economy and emissions over the superseded D5-powered variants.

C30, S40 and V50 models have a new variant - the T5 R-Design and its competitive pricing reflects a switch from all-wheel-drive to front-wheel-drive configuration.

T5 R-Design models are powered by Volvo's handy 169kW turbocharged 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine.

On the outside, T5 R-Design models feature a sports body kit with a rear spoiler, alloy wheels and a matt satin finish on the grille and side mirrors. Inside there is T5 R-design upholstery featuring off-black Flex-Tec and cream leather seats, a leather-trimmed sports steering wheel, sports instrumentation and pedals.

The V70 all-wheel-drive station wagon is freshened with a new grille and interior improvements including an improved Satellite Navigation display, four-spoke steering wheel, new seats and trim.

There is also a new R-Design V70 range with 18-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension and optional Active Chassis system.

Power comes from the 3.0-litre six cylinder turbo good for 210kW/400Nm and driving through a six-speed Geartronic automatic.

The XC70 all-wheel-drive wagon also scores the new-look grille and interior upgrades. Power remains the 3.2-litre six but the diesel choice becomes the new 2.4-litre D5 - developed in-house by Volvo and Euro 5 compliant for emissions, it delivers 151kW/420Nm.

Volvo's highly praised XC60 SUV also gains the D5 engine and interior upgrades including a power tailgate.

Big news for the C70 hardtop with a new entry-level model called the C70S which is priced at $59,990. It replaces the $71,950 LE model and features an improved interior.
