Volvo Reveals Australian-Developed Performance Car

Volvo slipped a locally crafted performance version of the sleek S60 T6 onto its Australian International Motor Show stand.

Taking the company’s sporty R-Design even further, Volvo Cars Australia enlisted the help of two Volvo partner companies – Polestar and Heico - in developing the concept car.

Polestar is Volvo’s racing division and it has supplied a software update which lifts output of the 3.0-litre, turbocharged six-cylinder engine to 242kW/480Nm.

Based in Germany, Heico has along history of Volvo performance car development and for Volvo Car Australia’s S60 performance project supplied 19-inch alloy wheels and a sports exhaust system.

Of course the existing R-Design delivers lowered sports suspension and sporty interior enhancements.

If customer interest is sufficiently strong, Volvo Cars Australia could build the racy S60 in small numbers.
