Volvo Australia has announced a recall today, covering its popular S60 sedan and V60 estate cars, over a potential issue with fluid leakage.
The manufacturer reported today that in very specific situations, the affected vehicles may suffer a coolant fluid leak. These ‘specific situations’ pertain to driving and climate conditions, almost exclusively during warmup: Like flooring the throttle on a cold engine, on a cold day.
The Swedish marque said that that would cause a warning message to appear, and that if the warning comes up, drivers should stop the vehicle where possible and not continue their journey. Should the engine be pushed further, it could cause an oil leak. In turn, that would cause a smell and/or smoke to come from the engine bay, and in some conditions, even cause a fire.
The affected sedans and estates were sold between the 1st of August 2011 through to 7th November 2016. Affected owners will be contacted by Volvo Australia via mail, but we advise owners to check their VIN numbers and visit their nearest dealership at the soonest possible convenience.
The VIN numbers are as below:
S60 Sedan: 001139 to 369491
V60 Estate: 001085 to 272166
