Volvo Launches S60 and V60 Polestar Models

Volvo’s third generation S60 Polestar model will be boosted by a V60 wagon Polestar version and both will hit local shores early next year.

Polestar is Volvo’s high-performance and motor sport off-shoot but hadn’t reayy done road cars until commissioned by Volvo Australia in 2011.

Now Polestar models are also sold in North America, Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the UK.

And of course Polestar is behind the Volvo entries in Australian V8 Supercar racing.

Both the 2015 versions of Volvo’s S60 and V60 models again from significant technical updates including new 20-inc Polestar alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 245/35 ZR20 rubber, a unique calibration for the Haldex all-wheel-drive system and further development of the Polestar/Ohlins shock absorbers.

Under the bonnet, there’s a launch control function for the transmission as well other engine/transmission re-tunes for a sportier driving dynamic.

And the Brembo brakes have scored a new booster and recalibrated ABS.

Power comes from Volvo’s turbocharged six-cylinder T6 engine with 257kW of power at 5,250rpm and peak torque of 500Nm at 3,000rpm.

On the styling front there’s new-design spoilers for both while inside there are new Polestar sports seats in Nubuck and perforated leather, a new sports steering wheel and new sports pedals.

The Volvo S60 Polestar is priced at $99,990 and you’ll need $102,990 for the V60 Polestar.
