Builing on the success of the limited edition Volvo S60 Polestar, Volvo has announced an expansion of the Polestar tuning software to encompass its range of R-Design vehicles.
Polestar is Volvo’s racing and performance partner and the company’s recalibrated engine management system, changed throttle mapping and fast-spooling turbochargers boost mid-range urge and overall performance. For example, Volvo’s T6 engine gains almost 20kW to 242kW and 40Nm more torque to 480Nm between 3000-3600rpm.
Typical Volvo smarts – efficient tuning of the Polestar software means the extra power is only used when needed, meaning all vehicles maintain their existing fuel consumption and exhaust C02 emissions stats.
“By adding Polestar’s performance software to select R-Design models, we are able to optimize our performance models further and give the discerning buyers a true stealth weapon option,” revealed Volvo Australia boss Matt Braid.
