Volvo’s S90 and XC90 hasn’t stopped garnering praise, and in Europe, on the same day, the automaker took home two awards. More to brag about, then.
It’s a pretty safe bet to say that most of us are fans of the Volvo’s all-new S90 and new XC90, especially when you come to know more about it. It’s also not a stretch to say that the Swedish automaker has been on somewhat of a roll lately.
The cherry and sprinkles on their sundae has come in the form of two awards handed to both those cars in quick succession.
First up, the Volvo S90 has been voted out of 20 contenders to win Production Car of the Year 2015 by a panel of 18 top car designers from around the world from such companies such as Daimler, Bentley, Ferrari, and McLaren at a ceremony hosted by Car Design News in Geneva.
Commenting on the award, Car Design News editor Owen Ready, said that the S90 was recognised “for its priority of clear, calm design over the ‘styling entertainment’ that has been plaguing the industry for too long”.

At the western edges of Europe at the UK Car of the Year awards, the Volvo XC90 bagged the title of SUV of the Year, with judges consisting of 27 prominent British motoring journalists, praising the SUV’s design, game-changing technology, safety, luxurious interior, and innovative packaging in particular.
Managing Director of Volvo Car UK, Nick Connor, said: “It is a great honour for the XC90 to be voted SUV of the Year – especially when the people voting for it are some of the most influential and respected motoring journalists in the UK. The XC90’s stunning design, unrivalled practicality and industry-leading technology, efficiency and safety perfectly meet the needs of modern premium SUV buyers, and awards such as this one prove just how right those buyers are to put their trust in Volvo.”
