Volvo and Hyundai are two brands with little in common, but both scored well in the annual J.D Power Initial Quality Study just announced in North America.
Volvo moved up from 20th position to tenth with its C70 model ranked number one amongst compact premium sporty cars. Its S80, XC70 and XC60 all placed in the top three in their segments.
For the second consecutive year, Hyundai secured a top-three placing – ranked third amongst non-premium brands. The Accent topped the sub-compact segment, with the Elantra placed third.
2010 was the 24th J.D. Power Initial Quality Survey which studies problems reported by 82,000 new car buyers within the first 90 days of owning their new car. The survey measures 228 attributes and was conducted between February and May 2010.
Further good news from North America for Hyundai came in the form of the latest Edmunds Top 10 list which named the just-launched i45 model and the Genesis (not sold in Australia) in the ‘Top 10 Best Dark Horse Cars’ for 2010. The ‘Dark Horse’ list represents vehicles that fly ‘below the radar’ in consumer awareness but actually have a lot to offer new cars buyers searching for quality and value.
