Swedish giants Volvo and Ericsson are working together to advance in-car internet services.
Among the initiatives announced are:
• Connected Vehicle Cloud to provide infotainment, apps and communication services (based on Ericsson’s Multiservice Delivery Platform)
• In-car cloud-enabled services and applications
Covering all new Volvo vehicles and all global markets, the system will be run as a Managed Service by Ericsson.
Volvo says that in the future cars will integrate the same level of digital service we enjoy at home or in the workplace.
Volvo wants to take the front running in this field and while there is a thrust for delivery on the all-new scalable product architecture (SPA – Volvo’s upcoming multi-vehicle chassis platform), beforehand, the system will roll-out in all new Volvo cars.
