As you read this, adventurer Rainer Zietlow and his Challenge4 team are on the road in their Volkswagen Touareg 3.0-litre V6 TDI driving non-stop from Melbourne to St Petersburg, Russia.
That’s 23,000kms in 16 days. The world record journey will see 10 Euro cents for each kilometer donated to the Plan International charity.
The team is carrying provisions for the journey and will drive non-stop in five-hour shifts.
In fact the only time the Touareg will be stationary is during water transport stages. Zietlow’s route takes in Australia, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China, Kazakhstan and finally Russia.
