Good news for hot hatch fans at the annual GTI gathering in Worthesee, Austria with Volkswagen unveiling the Polo WRC Street concept.
Paying homage to Volkswagen’s World Rally Championship Polos, the Polo WRC Street runs a massive rear spoiler, rear underbody diffuser, sports suspension and WRC decals.
Under the bonnet is Volkswagen’s 2.0-litre TSI engine with 162kW on tap.
Although strictly a concept at this stage, Volkswagen says the racy Polo range-topper will enter production late next year so full details have not been revealed.
No word on right-hand-drive production or Australian plans at this time.
Also creating interest in Worthesee were two trick Golf GTI models – the Black Dynamic and White Concept.
The GTI Black Dynamic is the work of nine young Volkswagen apprentices. With styling enhancements and nine-speaker, 1800-Watt audio system, the GLT Black Dynamic caught the attention of young enthusiasts in Austria.
The Volkswagen Golf GTI White Concept features matt white paint, red Nappa leather interior and stylized honeycomb pattern GTI logos in the door sills.
