At the launch of the new Volkswagen Polo, John White Managing Director of Volkswagen Australia confirmed to CarShowroom.com.au
that at least 8 new models or updates are on there way to Australia in the next 12 months.
Volkswagen Updates over the coming year:
Tiguan 130KW Diesel – September 2014
Tiguan R-Line – September 2014
Golf Wagon R-Line – October 2014
Scirocco R update – November 2014
Polo GTI update – first half 2015

New Tiguan
The Tiguan is set to start the rush of updates in September with a model refresh and the addition of a more powerful diesel engine and R-Line option. For the first time the Tiguan range will be fitted with a standard reversing camera, rear parking sensors and a colour touchscreen display. On top of that Volkswagen has confirmed it will release the most powerful diesel in the segment with the MY2015 130Kw TDI and that the Tiguan will now also be available with performance based R-Line option.
R-Line Golf Wagon, Golf Alltrack and Scirocco R
Just like the Golf Highline hatchback which can be fitted with the R-Line option for $2,200 the Golf Wagon buyer will also soon be able to get a sports inspired wagon. Expect the wagon to receive the option that are fitted to the hatchback like bigger wheels, sports seats, body kit and improved steering and suspension.
The Golf based Scirocco was on thin ice for a while in Australia and looked set to face the axe just like the EOS and Up! but Volkswagen have confirmed that it is here to stay. With its new styling the Scirocco R will have a simplified range that will have a limited number of colour choices and options. The Scirocco R is expected to arrive in November with the same power train as the current model.
If it is great outdoors that you want then the Golf Alltrack due mid year might just fit you needs. Similar to the current Passat Alltrack CarShowroom.com.au believes the new Golf Alltrack will follow and similar path and come with the 4x4, higher ground clearance and new body kit to give a more rugged outdoor look.
2015 Polo GTi
As with the Golf GTi the Polo GTi is due arrive about 6 months after the launch of the new Polo line-up. It is rumoured the Volkswagen Polo GTi will go on show at this years Paris Motor Show in October. Just like the Golf expect to see sporty body kits, interior enhancements and a more powerful engine.
Jetta
The mid sized Jetta will receive an overhaul with the range getting more features and options so it can tackle the Mazda6 and other rivals. With a slowing in sales Volkswagen is hoping the new model which debuted at the Detroit Motor Show will help propel the Jetta back up the sales chart and make it a volume seller.
All-New 2015 Passat
The new Passat has already started breaking cover around the internet but the official launch will be at the 2014 Paris Motor Show in October, however Australian buyers will need to wait until late in 2015 before they can get their hands on it. Details on specifications and pricing are scarce at this stage but we do know that Australia will receive the sedan, wagon and Alltrack models.
Full pricing and specification for each model will be released closer to the models being launch.
