Volkswagen has smartly launched new entry-level versions of its Caddy and Transporter vans. Called the ‘Runner Special Edition’ the Caddy version is priced at $19,990 ‘Driveaway’ while the Transporter is stickered at $29,990 ‘Driveaway’.
According to Volkswagen, those prices represent savings to buyers of $3,000 for the Caddy and $6,750 for the Transporter.
The Caddy version runs Volkswagen’s turbocharged 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine good for 63kW/160Nm, while the Transporter scores the 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel with 75kW/250Nm.
Inside Volkswagen has equipped both of them just how couriers and delivery drivers prefer their vehicles – set-up for the knocks and bumps of every day hard work but also comfortable for the driver in all weather conditions. So that means items like hard-wearing trim and ‘climatic’ air-conditioning.
Just 200 examples of the Volkswagen Runner Special Edition Caddy are headed our way and 350 of the Transporter.
