Volkswagen’s BlueMotion product brand (available internationally for Polo, Golf and Passat models) was declared the 2010 World Green Cars at the New York International Auto Show.
The 59 international jurors from 25 countries – who in theory have driven all contending vehicles - gave the Volkswagen products the edge over the Honda Insight (not sold in Australia) and Toyota’s Prius.
With new, more complex ‘green’ automotive technologies exploding onto the scene almost daily, the World Car Steering Committee this year took the unprecedented step of appointing three ‘green’ experts to review all documentation and specifications for contending vehicles to create a short list of finalists for review by the jurors.
BlueMotion products are not sold locally by Volkswagen Group Australia.
