Welcome to the dark side.
After treating us to the matte-grey Dark Label special edition in Frankfurt last September, Volkswagen has announced that the Amarok V6 Dark Label will be coming to Australia, and bring with it a variety of unique aesthetic tweaks. If you like your utes dark and menacing, look no further.
With just 500 units for the Australian market, the Dark Label Amarok will likely be a hot commodity, not that sales were much of an issue for the German pickup. Under the bonnet you’ll find the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 that powers the less-menacing models, putting out 165kW and 550Nm, with as much as 180kW available for short bursts (like overtaking). That power will go to all four wheels permanently, with transmission duties handled by an eight-speed automatic unit.

The visual changes are extensive, starting first with the ‘Indium Grey’ satin paint finish, which will be complemented by unique 18-inch alloys, black wheel arch trim, and matte-black side steps with a matching sports bar. Inside, you’ll find a totally-black cabin with black headlining and black trim on the pillars, as well as black ‘Vienna’ leather, with heated front seats.
In Europe, the Dark Label was available with two output tunes for the V6 turbodiesel. We’re not expected to get that. The Amarok Dark Label will fit between the Highline and Ultimate variants in the Amarok V6 range, but there’s no mention of pricing at this time.
