And the Amarok also gains a new twin-turbocharged 132kW/420Nm diesel engine.

The new transmission gives the Volkswagen Amarok a broader spread of ratios to improve fuel consumption and load-lugging – in fact the new twin-turbo diesel achieves its top speed of 179km/h in seventh gear with the extra cog used for fuel-saving cruising. Volkswagen says the eight-speed transmission drops Amarok’s combined cycle fuel consumption to 7.6l/100kms and exhaust C02 emissions to 199g/km.

The Amarok also runs fuel-saving Volkswagen BlueMotion technology such as Auto Start/Stop, battery regeneration and low rolling resistance tyres.
