Dodge will end production of the Viper in 2010 but the company is planning to send-off the iconic American sports car with a bang - some technical changes, new colour schemes and limited edition models.
Some 500 Vipers are slated for production in 2010 and all will be powered by the superb 450kW/760Nm 8.4-litre V10 powerplant. Models include the Roadster, Coupe and ACR (American Club Racer).
Two new exterior paint colours - Toxic Orange Pearl Coat and bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat - bring the total available colours to 12. Dodge says with wider body stripe configurations, five different interior colour combinations, three different interior bezels and four types of wheels, the 2010 Viper SRT10 will be available in more than 7,600 different combinations, adding to its exclusivity.
The ACR model gains a new rear wing profile and end plates. Made of light weight carbon fibre, the wing can be adjusted through a range of seven settings.
There is also a new carbon fibre front splitter and enhanced suspension with coil-over shock absorbers. In addition, ACR models secure a new transmission with ashorter throw shifter and revised fifth gear ratio.
Amongst the planned Limited Edition models is the ACR 1:33 which commemorates the Viper's new production car lap record at the Laguna Seca Raceway in California and a very special black Vooodoo-edition of which only 10 will be built.
