The latest edition of Nissan’s world-acclaimed all-wheel-drive supercar benefits from improved engine performance, better ride and handling and offers more customixation opportunities.

Included in the new options is a luxury pack which brings interior hand-stitched leather (seats, door trims and centre console) in ‘Amber Red’.

Nissan tested the engineering changes in the toughest environment – the 24-hour production car race at the Nurburgring. As well as that 7 mins 19.1 seconds lap time, Nissan claims the latest GT-R will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds.

On the dollar front, price is up only slightly to $172,000.

Under the bonnet, Nissan focused on sharper response from the GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V6 – particularly at higher engine speeds.

There’s new high output injectors, changes to the turbocharger relief valve to reduce pressure loss during gear changes, a new baffle in the oil pan and even an engraved plate carrying the signtaure of the technician who assembled the engine (every Nissan GT-R engine is hand-built).

Underneath, the 2013 Nissan GT-R runs a lower centre of gravity and revised shock absorbers and front anti-roll bar. In addition, stronger bolts are fitted to maintain front camber and alignment settings and there are new front hub bearings to improve high performance durability when used at race circuits.
